AburyCity's LibraryMuseum

Project name: AlburyCity’s LibraryMuseum
Client: AlburyCity
Project Cost: $
Completed: July 2007

AlburyCity's LibraryMuseum continues to claim prestigious awards, having just received its sixth since opening in July last year.

The building is repeatedly being recognized for its bold architecture and environmental features as well as its place as a community facility.

Zauner Construction - Albury Library/Museum, Winner Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings $7M-$10M

The landmark building was designed by ARM in the dignity of a traditional civic building with the ability to speak to a 21st century generation as a contemporary building, drawn from the region's history. The expressive elements, including the planted granite embankment and the crossed aluminum facade, constructed independently using the Zauner team’s own resources, are drawn from aspects of the region's heritage and environment.

AlburyCity Director of Community and Recreation James Jenkins said, 'The architects, Ashton Raggatt McDougall, builder Zauner Constructions and AlburyCity staff have all combined to ensure that Council's and the community's vision has been achieved’.

The LibraryMuseum design was considered as part of a larger CBD development around QE2 Square. Multiple accesses have been created to enter the building, and the large forecourt defines the area as a public space; a place of art and gathering.

With a 95% increase in visitors, 11,000 new Library members and a 400% increase in technology use, the LibraryMuseum is one of the most popular facilities in Albury.
